Awakenings
Dr. Malcolm Sayer, a shy research physician, uses an experimental drug to"awaken" the catatonic victims of a rare disorder. Leonard is the very first patient to receive the therapy that is controversial. His awakening, filled with awe and excitement, proves a rebirth for Sayer too, as the exuberant patient reveals the simple but unutterably sweet pleasures of life to the introverted doctor.
