Ninth Happiness
The villagers of Choi Hung are all goodhearted singers and hard workers. Town beauty Chi Wan meets a mysterious man in the woods and falls in love, convinced that he is a fairy. He asks her sister Heung for help, and on her instruction, he secretly pursues Chi Wan by purchasing a fan for her. Misguided jealousy erupts between Chi Wan and Heung's lover, Dup, because they believe the stranger and Heung are romantically linked. The new town official and his rough enforcer are brothers who move to town and try to open a whorehouse because they can't believe there's no bribery and corruption to benefit from. In addition, they're after Chi Wan. Will there ever be a way to sort this out? The question is, "Will innocence win out?" Who is this mysterious person, exactly?
