Prior to conference George Good (Brad Dourif), Sonny Jordan (Mekhi Pfeiffer) was just a shed drifter with a troubled past drifting from community to community, searching for work. As fate would certainly have it, Sonny winds up saving George's life from a murderous back-alley mugger. As many thanks, George gives Sonny a residence and also a work as an auto mechanic on his ranch in the lonesome Louisiana Bayou.
