With a new iPhone, an apartment nearby the Grove, and also a comfortable banking account left for her by her beloved late husband, Marnie Minervini has thankfully jumped from New Jersey to Los Angeles to be near her daughter Lori, a successful (but nonetheless unmarried ) screenwriter, and smother her with motherly love. However when the heaps of texts, unexpected visits, and conversations dominated by unsolicited information force Lori to draw rigorous private boundaries, Marnie finds ways to channel her eternal optimism and forceful generosity to modify the lifestyles of others - as well as her - in order to find a new purpose in life.
