The Moon Embracing the Sun

Heo Yeon Woo, the thirteen-year-old daughter of a high-ranking official, accompanies her mother to the royal palace to witness her brother Heo Yeom's ceremony of congratulations for passing the civil service exams. She meets Crown Prince Lee Hwon by accident. They fall in love, and Yeon Woo is selected to become the Crown Princess of Joseon. Prior to their marriage, the Dowager Queen covertly orders her assassination in order to obtain greater authority for herself. Yeon Woo is cursed and afflicted with a disease. Everyone, even Crown Prince Lee Hwon, believes she is dead. Broken-hearted, he refuses to love again. The young king encounters the shaman Wol eight years later. He begins investigating Yeon Woo's death as he is unable to deny the parallels between her and Yeon Woo.
