Place during the tumultuous early days of the civil rights movement in Memphis, Sun Records informs the untold story of less than the birth of rock'n' roll. Guided by Sam Phillips, youthful artists such as Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis united the designs of hillbilly country with all the 1950s R&B audio generated by artists like Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Fats Domino and Iketurner, and changed the course of music forever. The show chronicles the artists' abrupt and frequently jarring rise to fame at the face of societal unrest and sweeping change.
